Porcelain Dragon Art

"Glaze Dragon" was constructed of solid porcelain and weighs 49 lbs, measuring 12" W X 20"L X 19 1/2" H.

Porcelain is difficult to work with lacking a firmness of body; the details were carved, modeled and brushed.  Brushing is a process whereby fine acrylic brushes are used to work slippery porcelain, with toothpaste like consistency, into a final shape.

To avoid the inherent drying cracks of porcelain, the sculpture was left to dry under a plastic cover for over two months.

A bisque and glaze firing to over 2300 degrees Fahrenheit completed the process.
